Programs

Four pillars. One foundation.

Each program is led by lived experience and grounded in measurable community outcomes.

01

Nonprofit Empowerment Training

Capacity-building for community-based nonprofits led by people of color. Board development, strategy, executive coaching, financial systems, and equity-centered leadership development. We support the EDs, boards, and staff who are doing the work in communities the larger philanthropic sector under-resources.

  • Board governance and bylaws review
  • Strategic planning facilitated by lived-experience consultants
  • Executive coaching for first-time or rising EDs
  • Financial systems setup (QuickBooks, fund accounting, audit prep)
A $5,000 gift funds one full year of training for a small nonprofit ED.
02

Aging Community Support

Elder dignity programming. Community gatherings, transportation support, intergenerational connection events, and partnerships with senior-serving organizations across the Bay Area and beyond.

  • Intergenerational gatherings and meals
  • Transportation assistance to medical and social appointments
  • Volunteer companionship programs
  • Partnerships with senior centers and faith communities
A $1,500 gift hosts one elder-and-youth gathering for 40 people.
03

Youth Education & Schools

Partnerships with schools serving Black, brown, and historically underserved students. Mentorship, leadership institutes, and access to opportunities that don't reach the zip code by default.

  • School-based leadership cohorts
  • College access and FAFSA workshops
  • Mentorship matching with vetted adult mentors
  • Summer leadership institutes
A $2,500 gift funds a youth leadership cohort for a school site.
04

College Scholarships

Direct scholarship dollars for first-generation college students from our partner communities. Multi-year awards paired with mentorship through degree completion. Honoring the legacy of educators like Dr. Benjamin F. Baker, who built the schools that taught the first generations of college-bound Black students in Mobile.

  • Multi-year awards (renewable through graduation)
  • Mentor pairing for the duration of the scholarship
  • Career navigation and professional networking support
  • Named scholarship options for donors
A $7,500 gift fully funds one named annual scholarship.
We are a continuum. Just as we reach back to our ancestors for our fundamental values, so we, as guardians of that legacy, must reach ahead to our children and their children. Paul Tsonga
